According to the sign on the highway, Fayetteville bills itself as the ‘Coolest Small Town’. Which is interesting, but also pretty vague. Coolest small town where? In West Virginia? In the country? In the world?

Sadly, I’m not here long enough to find out as I’m only staying the night.

On a more important note, if you’re looking for a good outdoorsy place to visit within a days drive of home, head down here. The state is really beautiful, the hiking is great and the whitewater rafting on the New River (just a stones throw from where I’m laying my head for the night) is something else.

Also – Kudos to the desk guy for making me another key after I locked myself out of my room. I think he thought less of me, but was too cheery – in a Leave it to Beaver kind of way – to say so.
