Things I think, I think

My collection of occasional thoughts from the road…

1) Was at the laundry mat this morning and feeding money into the change machine when I glanced to my right and noticed a baby staring at me. Gave her a quick wave, and got a smile in return.

My friends, a baby’s smile is worth it’s weight in gold and absolutely serves as one of life’s simple joys.

2) As much as I try to avoid such ‘news’, I could not help but take note of the breaking news that ‘Harry and Meghan’ want to step back from royal life. And only one question came to my mind.

Why, in the year 2020, do we still have ‘Royal Families’?

For all the progress we’ve made in society, doesn’t that seem like a concept that should have been done away with a LONG time ago?

3) Don’t speed through parking lots.

Not that caution shouldn’t always be the buzzword when driving, but if there’s ever somewhere more caution should prevail…

4) There was quite a wait at the restaurant the other night in El Paso, so I walked over to Wal-Mart to grab a couple of things. Noticed three security guards in the parking lot. Then at least three more around the entrances inside. Talked to one of the guys on the way out to confirm my suspicions.

As suspected, they’ve been present since the El Paso shooting several months ago. America 2020. Sad.

We have roughly as many guns as people in this country, and there is certainly no other nation that loves and fetishizes guns like America, so clearly the gun genie isn’t going back in the bottle. But, there are things we can do to make the situation a little better by keeping guns away from people that shouldn’t have access to them.

And we simply refuse to do them.

Would it solve all gun massacres? Of course not. But less mass murder is better than more mass murder, right?

Less death and destruction > More death and destruction? Right?

I get it, America loves guns.

I suppose the question becomes, ‘Do we love each other more?’

5) Ryan Tannehill. Wow, what a story.

Turns out he’s pretty good after all (and maybe wasn’t that bad to begin with?)

6) I absolutely love the angles from the camera they string across the field for Primetime games. Though I imagine it would be logistically difficult, I’d love for them to come up with a way to incorporate it into more contests. Adds so much perspective to the game.

7) I need more avocado in my life. Full stop.

Yum.
